T3 Reviews: Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality

 A fanfic called Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality or HPMOR by Eliezer Yudkowsky.  It was published as a serial from February 28, 2010 to March 14, 2015, totaling 122 chapters and about 660,000 words.It is available for free here.

It is an incredible exploration of how different the story would be if we approached everything rationally. There are a few changes to the lore or nature of magic in the story but they don't become apparent until much later in the book.So you can read using the original HP books as a base.

Here Petunia was give the beauty potion by Lily and as a result married a professor at oxford instead. Harry was adopted by them and grew up to be the most ravenclaw person I have seen. Yes, that means bookworm....

Harry as a bookworm interests me because I myself am one!  

Also it takes place in Harry's first year just like the philosopher's throne. What might interest you is that there are multiple fanfics of HPMOR itself. One of them Significant Digits spawned a fanfic of itself called Orders Of Magnitude.
